Nicki first joined Eagle Animal Hospital & Pet Resort when she was 17 years old, as a kennel attendant in 1974. The next year, she took on the role of receptionist and was an integral member of the hospital staff for the next decade. Nicki returned to Eagle Animal Hospital as practice manager in August of 2002.

Nicki oversees the operations of the hospital and keeps the team working together at all times. She handles accounts payable and receivable, payroll, administrative support, customer service, and human resources. She holds an Associate's degree in business from Maple Woods Community College.

Nicki most enjoys the relationships she has developed with clients and staff and the wonderful pets and people she has met. "We have caring and compassionate people in the veterinary profession," she says.

At home Nicki has a Sheltie named Holly and enjoys watching movies, reading, and spending quality time with her family.

Registered Veterinary Technicians


northland, mo veterinaryRenee, Registered Veterinary Technician

Renee joined our team in January of 2001 – transitioning from kennel staff, to receptionist, to veterinary assistant, and then registered veterinary technician in 2005. She earned her Associate's degree in veterinary technology from Maple Woods Community College.

Renee's duties include monitoring anesthesia, assisting with radiology and surgery, dentistry, drawing and running lab work, placing catheters and bandages, wound care, and client education. She prides herself on being patient and calm during stressful situations. We consider Renee as Eagle's Best Phlebotomist.

"Working at Eagle, I can assure our clients that each and every animal that walks in the door gets treated as if they were one of our own pets."

When she's not working, Renee likes being with her husband and two children. The family has a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Ari and two sibling cats, Hulk and Princess Marshmellow.

veterinary care in riversideJo, Registered Veterinary Technician

Jo graduated from Maple Woods Community College with an Associate's degree in veterinary technology in 2006. Now a registered veterinary technician in Missouri, she joined our team in March of 2002. Her responsibilities include providing care to our hospitalized patients, assisting with surgery, radiology, dentistry, laboratory diagnostics, bandage placement, and client education.

"I love getting to be directly involved in our patients' care and see them through their time here," she says. "I feel lucky to work with a group of people that get along so well and enjoy hanging out after work."

Jo has an Australian Shepherd named Kobe and three cats, Oliver, Ralphie, and Stella. She enjoys horseback riding, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

April, Registered Veterinary Technician

Since the age of 14, April has been working in the animal related field and has accumulated over 10 years of experience. She joined Eagle Animal Hospital in July 2017, working full time as one of our registered veterinary technicians.

Some of April’s daily responsibilities include radiology, dentistry, anesthesia monitoring, client education, caring for hospitalized patients, IV catheter placement, lab work, and much more! Her favorite parts of the job are helping inform and educate clients about their pets, radiology, dentistry, and caring for our patients.

“The staff has been very friendly and welcoming,” says April. “I am lucky to have found such a great place to work at and great people to work for. I love caring for our patients like they are our own.”

April graduated from Arkansas State University – Beebe, attaining an Associate’s degree of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. She is a certified veterinary technician in the state of Arkansas, and is working to gain certification in Missouri.

While she is at home, April loves looking after her Husky Mix, Han Solo. Her and Han are members of the KC Dog Club, and both want to begin agility training. Han knows lots of tricks, and is quite the character. April also enjoys hiking, playing video games with her husband, painting, and anything Star Wars related.

Veterinary Technicians


platte county veterinaryStephanie, Veterinary Technician

Stephanie has worked in the veterinary industry since 1995, joining Eagle in 2007. She acquired her Associates degree in Business from Maple Woods Community College.

"Eagle Animal Hospital is unlike any other veterinary hospital I've worked at," she says. "The veterinarians and staff are truly passionate about their work and invested in the clients and their pets." Stephanie's favorite part of her job is neonatal care and dentistry.

Stephanie's responsibilities as a veterinary technician include, drawing blood, catheter placement, taking radiographs, monitoring anesthesia, dental cleanings and prophylaxis, assisting in surgery, bandage care, and client communication.

In addition to her role as a veterinary technician, Stephanie enjoys managing the hospital's inventory and social media accounts.

"At Eagle, no two days are the same," she says. "The variety of cases we see keeps every day exciting."

When she is not at work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She is kept busy with her teenage son and daughter’s after school activities. The family has two dogs: a Jack Russell Terrier named Finnigan; and a Shih-Poo named Tilly. They also care for a neighborhood cat named Kitty.

Veterinary Assistants

Sarah joined our team in April of 2015, bringing a decade of experience as a kennel attendant, assistant, and supervisor. Her responsibilities include assisting our veterinarians and technicians, running laboratory work, and assisting with radiology and surgery preparation. She has a Bachelor's degree in animal science with a minor in equine studies from Missouri State University.

"I love everything about my job, but really enjoy helping with radiology," she says. "I love being able to work with people that share my passion for animals." A former horse show competitor, Sarah's hobbies include horseback riding, fly fishing, hunting, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She has a German Shepherd named Athena and two cats named Bandit and Georgia.

kansas city veterinaryCarol, Veterinary Assistant

Carol joined Eagle Animal Hospital and Pet Resort’s team in 2010. She has worked as a kennel assistant, daycare manager, and her newest position as a veterinary assistant. Carol new responsibilities includes assisting the technicians and veterinarians with procedures and patient care while continuing to assist our daycare staff.

"I love getting to play with dogs all day, but the people I work with make this the best job in the world," she says.

Carol holds a Bachelor's degree in animal science with a minor in captive wild animal management from the University of Missouri. She interned as a zookeeper at Dickerson Park Zoo during the summer of 2012.

At home Carol cares for a Morkie named Minnie and a terrier mix named Elphaba. She spends her free time doing ashtanga yoga and is an advocate for body positivity and eating disorder recovery. She also ushers at her church on Saturday evenings and loves "all things Star Wars."

Caitlyn joined the Eagle Animal Hospital and Pet Resort team in August 2016, first as a doggie daycare attendant before becoming a veterinary assistant.

"I enjoy working at Eagle Animal Hospital because of the great environment and staff, and the animals are perfect," she says.

Caitlyn brings great dog handling experience to the doggie daycare team at the hospital. She previously worked as a doggie daycare supervisor and as a bather for a groomer. Caitlyn is currently enrolled at Colby Community College in the Veterinary Technology program.

At home, she has a 4-year-old Shar Pei named Bruce. When not working or attending class, Caitlyn likes tennis, hiking, watching Netflix and reading, as well as any art-related activities.

Client Care Team

Carley joined the Eagle Animal Hospital & Pet Resort team in May of 2013, having previous experience at a boarding facility. With her outgoing personality, she easily makes clients feel welcome. Carley loves her job because of the people she works with and the fact that she can bring her dogs along to doggie daycare.

Her pooches include Freedom, the Australian Shepherd, and Princess Baby Rainbow Sparkle, a young Pit Bull. When she's not working, Carley spends all of her time with her six-year-old daughter, two-year-old son, and boyfriend.

Jenna joined our Client Care team in June of 2014. As part of Eagle Animal Hospital & Pet Resort's commitment to customer service, she is always attentive when it comes to the needs of our clients. She greets everyone who visits our hospital, checks them in and out of appointments, and answers incoming calls.

"We are a close group," she says. "Friends outside of work as well as during working hours." Jenna's spare time is spent with her young son, friends, or reading, watching movies, and shopping.

Mariah joined Eagle Animal Hospital & Pet Resort's Client Care team in January of 2015. Her willingness and desire to help our clients as best she can has made her a valuable addition to our team. Some of her responsibilities include checking clients and their pets in and out, taking phone calls, and scheduling appointments.

"Everyone is close and extremely friendly," she says. "We all work well together and have fun."

When she's not working, Mariah keeps busy with her daughter and her three mixed breed dogs, Lola, Casey, and Nike.

Shandelle joined the client care team at Eagle Animal Hospital in October 2016. Her daily job responsibilities include making appointments, answering phones, filing medical charts and checking in clients . Shandelle is very personable, and it's her goal to make clients and patients feel comfortable from the moment they walk through the door. She says her favorite part of the job is watching clients bring in a new addition to their family.

"All of the staff at Eagle Animal Hospital are super friendly and we all get along great," says Shandelle. "It's a very positive and fun environment to work in!"

Shandelle earned her Associate degree in Agriculture and Livestock Management from Southeast Community College. At home, she has a 1-year-old border collie named Trigger, a 5-month-old beagle named Harley and a 5-year-old domestic shorthair cat named Tucker. Shandelle enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching Husker sports (Go Big Red!), playing volleyball, fishing, reading, game nights and going on long Harley rides with her fiancé.

Summer joined the Client Care team at Eagle Animal Hospital in March 2017. As a receptionist and the assistant for our mobile clinic, she is responsible for answering phones, scheduling appointments and assisting clients with their pets. Adaptable and devoted to her work, Summer enjoys interacting with our clients and their wonderful pets.

“The family-like atmosphere at Eagle Animal Hospital makes it an enjoyable place to work,” Summer says. “The care of the patient always comes first. Every client is listened to and their concerns are addressed appropriately.”

At home, Summer has three Rottweilers named Robin, Toretto and Summit. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and their dogs. They like to go to the movies and travel to see their families back in Tennessee and Georgia.

Kennel Staff

Rachel joined the Eagle Animal Hospital team in August of 1990. Boasting nearly three decades of experience working as a kennel attendant and then director, she is skilled at gaining the trust of fearful or anxious dogs via calm and assertive handling. In addition to serving as a shift supervisor for our five kennel assistants, Rachel also assists with walks, baths, feeding, administering medications, and cleaning – anything to maintain the "overall health of (our) boarding animals."

When it comes to choosing her favorite part of the job, Rachel says she likes it all. "I enjoy caring for dogs and cats and all that entails," she says. "My family has been going to Eagle for fifty years."

At home Rachel has four cats (Moth, Ginger, Screamy Dan, and Dozer) and a miniature Dachshund named Missy. She enjoys weightlifting, hiking, bird watching, studying insects, and shooting. She also loves baseball.

When she's not caring for dogs and cats while their owners are away, Sarah helps keep our facility clean, assists our technicians and other kennel assistants, and feeds the fish in our lobby aquarium. "I'm also able to make sure our laundry is fresh and ready to go for our pet visitors to sleep and cuddle in to," she says.

A student at Maple Woods Community College, Sarah joined our team in October of 2014. Her favorite part of the job is caring for cats staying in our Pet Resort cat condos.

At home Sarah has two cats named Robert and Possum, a tarantula named Cleo, a Chocolate Lab named Tank, a Tennessee Walking horse, and lots of poultry. She volunteers with Dream Catchers, an organization which provides equine therapy for the disabled. She spends her free time riding horses, playing tennis, baking, and watching YouTube.

A senior at Park Hill South High School, Abbey joined the Eagle Animal Hospital team in August of 2015. Her responsibilities as a kennel assistant include feeding and walking all of our animals, giving baths, and keeping our kennels clean. She most enjoys helping the cats and dogs feel at home.

"I love working at Eagle because the staff is great and really helps you know what to do," she says. "They also take quality care of all animals that come in."

At home, Abbey has two small dogs – a Havanese-Bichon mix named Daisy and a Shih Tzu named Duke. When she's not at school learning, studying, or working, Abbey participates in competitive cheerleading.

Shelby joined the Eagle Animal Hospital Team as a kennel attendant in November 2016. Her duties include caring for the animals boarding at the hospital—feeding them, administering daily meds and giving baths.

“I started bringing my own animals here about a year ago and I just fell in love with the place. It’s got a great atmosphere and great people working here,” she says.

Shelby is hardworking and eager to learn, so much so that she hopes to be enrolled in the Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods Veterinary Technology program within the next year. At home, Shelby has a cat named Khaleesi, a 6 month old kitten named Frankie and a 6 month old ferret named Joey.

When not working, she enjoys watching baseball, fishing with her father, reading and play with her pets.

A Park Hill South High School student, Morgan joined our team in May of 2015. She brings with her an eagerness and excitement to learn new things. Morgan is a hard worker and is responsible for feeding and caring for our animals, taking dogs out for exercise, and giving baths.

"Eagle Animal Hospital is always honest and has a great reputation," she says. "Everyone that works here is kind, caring, and loves animals."

Morgan has three pets at home: a Cocker Spaniel-Bichon Frise mix named Lilly; a cat named Sylvester; and a ball python named Charlie. She is involved with her student council, cross country, and is a freshmen mentor. She enjoys running, skiing, being outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends.

Patrick joined our kennel team in May 2016. He says, “Eagle Animal Hospital is one of the best hospitals I know of and it is very good at taking care of animals in the best way possible.” His responsibilities include feeding and taking out dogs, taking dogs downstairs for boarding and daycare, and giving dogs baths. Patrick is hard-working and he enjoys his job while doing it to the best of his ability.

At home, Patrick has a 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Lacey. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports, particularly baseball, as well as hunting and fishing. In 2017 Patrick will attend the University of Missouri as a pre-veterinary student.

Josie, Kennel Attendant

Josie joined the team at Eagle Animal Hospital & Pet Resort in December 2016. As a kennel attendant, she is responsible for making sure the boarding pets are fed, have enough water, get the proper medications and are let outside. Josie's favorite part of the job is getting to know the different and unique personalities of all the pets that stay with us. Outside of the hospital, Josie studies philosophy and sociology at University of Missouri – Kansas City.

"Everyone at Eagle Animal Hospital is firmly dedicated to making sure the animals are healthy and happy," Josie says. "They are always available and willing to teach me new things so I can be better at my job."

At home, Jose has a rescued 3-year-old pit bull mix named Uma. In her free time, she enjoys reading, collecting books, bicycling, hiking, learning new things, fantasy films and fixing up her old house.

Daycare Staff

After four years in the animal care field, Ashley joined the kennel team at Eagle Animal Hospital & Pet Resort in August 2016. Her responsibilities include walking dogs, cleaning, medicating cats and dogs, and bathing and trimming nails. Ashley loves being able to interact with dogs all day long.

She says, "I really enjoy the friendly atmosphere at the kennel. Everyone is super inviting and super nice. The building is beautiful, and I love being able to work with animals every day."

At home, Ashley has a 5-year-old Bengal cat named Romeo, a 4-year-old Bengal cat named Rhett, a 2-year-old tortoiseshell cat named Daisy Mae and a 4-year-old pekapoo dog named Boo. She enjoys reading, antique shopping, playing volleyball, attempting not to spend money at Ikea and watching baseball with her best friends (go Royals!)

Skylar joined the staff at Eagle Animal Hospital in May 2016. As a doggie daycare attendant, her main responsibility is making sure the dogs are safe and happy throughout the day. Skylar enjoys running around with the dogs and her curiosity to study animal behavior allows her learn something each day.

Currently, Skylar studies psychology at Oregon State University. Before coming to Eagle Animal Hospital, she shadowed a wildlife veterinarian over the course of four years. Skylar says, “Everybody at Eagle Animal Hospital seems so close and very friendly. The dogs and cats are very well taken care of. Everybody who works here seems to love their job.”

Skylar has an 11-year-old Newfoundland named Moose and a cat named Larry who’s age is a mystery. She spends her free time studying for school or playing/coaching volleyball.

Groomer

With 17 years of experience, Alyssa is our dedicated groomer. She got her start in 1994 as a bather and kennel attendant and went on to earn her grooming certificate through American Pet in 1998. She joined the Eagle Animal Hospital & Pet Resort team in May of 2015.

"I enjoy having the opportunity to work in a brand new facility and to be working with a great team of coworkers," she says. "I like to keep my grooming area very clean and organized. I also take my time in perfecting haircuts to keep my customers happy."

Alyssa does breed-specific haircuts as well as trims or files nails, utilizes the "furminator solution" for heavy shedders, and keeps several varieties of medicated dog shampoos on hand at all times. She most enjoys interacting with clients and meeting each dog's specific grooming needs to the best of her ability.

At home Alyssa has a Dachshund named Bailey. In her free time, she keeps active by going to the gym, taking walks outdoors, playing basketball, and fishing.
