Dentistry

More than 85% of dogs and cats older than four years of age have periodontal disease. Unless daily tooth brushing is performed tartar (A combination of food, bacteria, and plaque) will begin to form on your pets teeth. This bacteria, can lead to infection which can loosen and destroy the attachment of the tooth. This infection can further spread to the liver, heart, and kidneys.

A dental cleaning at our hospital includes the following:

  1. General exam before anesthesia, pre-operative bloodwork.
  2. Oral exam under anesthesia
  3. Gross calculus removal
  4. Subgingival cleaning (cleaning below gumline)
  5. Ultrasonic scaling of teeth.
  6. Polishing
  7. Fluoride/ Oravet application
